Many in the design and manufacturing communities are developing ways to easily communicate this information through what is often called a nutrition label for building products. An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a voluntary declaration of a product’s life-cycle impact and are used for a wide variety of purposes such as green procurement, green building rating programmes and designing for the environment (ecodesign).
