New buildings have provisions for highly-optimised HVAC systems, driven by a desire to achieve the highest levels of energy efficiency. This is often not the case for existing buildings, where there could be a real possibility of buildings even becoming 'energy obsolete'. There is a need to address the barriers to energy retrofits for the existing building stock to move towards greater environmental sustainability.

In this SGBC Course, we will explore the challenges and opportunities of HVAC retrofits. The benefits of HVAC retro-commissioning to regain original performance will be examined, along with modern control and optimisation solutions that can be implemented to maximise building performance.
