SGBC Building
Life Cycle Assessment Courses

Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a standardised, science-based tool to calculate the environmental impact of a product, service, or process. It can both measure a building’s lifetime impacts and, at the same time, quantify the impact of a single material in the building. Acquire the tools and skills to meaningfully assess the environmental impact of buildings for the new normal through SGBC's course series dedicated to understanding building life cycle assessment.

Applied Learning:
Conducting Life Cycle Assessment for Buildings

Knowledge Fundamentals:
Embodied Carbon and Life Cycle Assessment

As goals increasingly shift towards Net Zero Carbon, green building practitioners will need to keep abreast of the standards used in building carbon performance in order to identify key opportunities and develop strategies for decarbonisation.

Framed against leading green building rating tools available in the market today, this course will provide an understanding of embodied carbon and give participants an overarching view of a building’s life cycle assessment.
Note: An e-Certificate of Completion will be sent to you via email at the end of the course (clocked at least 75% total course duration).

Applied Learning:
Conducting Life Cycle Assessment for Buildings

This workshop provides participants with hands-on training using the OneClick LCA digital tool to conduct lifecycle assessments of building projects and identify decarbonisation opportunities. Participants will also learn how to assess building materials for their carbon emissions impact and implications on a building’s carbon performance.
Course pre-requisites
Participants who have an understanding of embodied carbon, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and work with data from Building Information Modelling (BIM) or Building Energy Models (BEM) models.
Note: An e-Certificate of Completion will be sent to you via email at the end of the course (clocked at least 75% total course duration).
